Feeding Programs and Projects

ChildCry
ChildCry works alongside local ministry partners in 20 countries around the world to feed hungry kids in their communities. 100% of every dollar you donate to ChildCry is used to purchase food for hungry kids. Overhead costs are provided by Times Square Church. Whether it’s curried rice for kids in India, naan for kids in Afghanistan or veggies and sausages for kids in Papua New Guinea, ChildCry partners serve kids culturally appropriate meals that they can not only recognize but also enjoy.
Feed New York
Feed New York supplies healthy food to local churches that are committed to helping people in their community who struggle to provide food for themselves and their families.

We found that the most effective way of making sure food gets to people who need it most, is working with local churches. Churches know the needs in their communities and people know that they can turn to churches in times of need.

Often the needs go beyond hunger. That’s why prayer is important to Feed New York. Our church partners not only provide food, they provide hope through prayer and an opportunity to find a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

Ciudad Refugio
At the corner of 48 & 65 streets in Medellin, Colombia stands a six-story facility that serves as the headquarters for Ciudad Refugio (City of Refuge)—a growing inner-city ministry founded in 1993. Moved by the despair and homelessness in Medellin, Douglas Calvano, a Times Square Church missionary, started taking “agua panela” (sugar water) and bread to those on the streets. Eventually the street outreach grew into what is now a multi-faceted project including a rehabilitation and discipleship program for men and women, a feeding program, a shelter for homeless men, and a vibrant inner-city church.

Today, some of the more recent developments of Ciudad Refugio include skills training and micro-enterprise opportunities which help to sustain the ministry and train those in the rehabilitation programs. These initiatives include a bakery, and a micro =-enterprise of hand finishing products. God has also expanded their vision to reach other regions of Colombia, beginning with a church plant in the rural community of Planeta Rica as well as an open invitation from the government to minister on the small Caribbean island of Providencia.

Christ the Living Word Church
Muddy footpaths strewn with sewage lead through crowded squatter communities in Metro Manila where thousands live in tin and cardboard homes. “Welfareville” is one of the largest slums with approximately 90,000 people.

As a result of a Times Square Church international outreach in 2002, Christ the Living Word Church was founded and began ministering to local children and families. Now over 10 years later, through this church, TSC Missions continues to provide assistance to the people of Welfareville and surrounding slum areas through feeding programs, health education, and medical and dental care. There are over 50 house church services being held every week as well as four feeding program sites supported by ChildCry, each feeding 25 to 30 kids daily.

Clinique Sur Appel De Delmas
Spurred by the devastating impact of the earthquake in January 2010, Times Square Church began sending construction and medical outreach teams into the heart of Haiti to help rebuild, heal and bring a message of hope to those affected. The need for a permanent healthcare presence became apparent and so, the Clinique Sur Appel de Delmas (CSAD) was established in May 2013 in Delmas 75, Port-au-Prince, to serve the surrounding community.

The clinic is staffed locally with a doctor and two nurses and operates Monday to Friday for 5-hour sessions. Our patients receive all services, that is, consultations, medications and diagnostic tests at no cost. Today, the clinic sees more than 6000 patients and fills over 20,000 prescriptions annually. Approximately 40,000 lives have been touched since we started this journey in 2010.

Over the years many have volunteered on medical and dental teams to augment the clinic’s services. In return, their lives have been touched and changed as they served and allowed themselves to be a practical expression of the love of Jesus Christ. Our patients see the clinic as a refuge where they are treated with respect and dignity. CSAD has become a testimony in the community of God’s love and faithfulness.

Asha in the Red Light
In the midst of the poverty and oppression of the red-light district, a woman from Times Square Church along with a team of local staff serve women in the red-light district, opened a rehabilitation center for women rescued from the brothels, and two group homes, one for girls and one for boys, rescued from the brothels. The physical location of the center and two group homes is significant as they are in the exact geographic center of the city. They are truly a light set on a hill for all those hiding in the dark, hidden world of sex slavery to come out and find hope and a new life.

This team in India goes to serve women in the red-light district. They show the love of Christ and pray that their acts of love and service will warm their hearts to Jesus and give them courage to leave the red-light district. For those who do choose to leave, they have a rehabilitation center to help them find their healing in Jesus Christ and restore their dignity. The team mentors the women, helping them to find housing and directing them to other organizations that focus on vocational training so they can start their new lives outside the red-light district.

The group homes for children offer a safe environment with adults who demonstrate and teach the love of Jesus Christ, provide hope and healing, and training to live productive lives. These kids, whose lives were once used purely for financial gain, are given a nurturing home and taught that their lives are infinitely valuable.

Serge and Lesya Landik
The Landik family has spent the last 10 years in Ukraine as Times Square Church missionaries working with orphans and Christian youth. Their goal is to inspire these young people to seek and hear God for themselves..

Understanding that this task is too large for their family alone, they established the Hebron School of Ministry, Transcarpathia to help local churches train lay ministers to influence local youth.

Currently, the Landik family is taking part in the Sabbatical program at Summit School of Ministry. They continue to pray to be a part of God’s work among youth and young adults in Europe, or anywhere else he decides to send them.

Marshall Family
The Marshalls have been serving in Central Asia since 2009. They lead a team for a Christian NGO that helps people rebuild their lives through education, community development, and relief work. Over the past 10 years, they have been designing water systems that provide clean water to remote villages, helping build latrines and providing health and hygiene classes in areas where people have never had a bar of soap or clean water.

The Marshalls also help oversee one of the ChildCry projects that provides food to a local boys’ orphanage. In 2014, they started a vocational training program to help the older orphan boys learn a skill before they have to exit the orphanage.

Daily they continue to flood the area with prayer and spread His joy to many who have only known war and bloodshed. They have been able to see God move and enjoy coaching others. They have two fun children, a 9-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter who have grown up overseas.

Jacqueline Meihsner
In September of 1999, Jacqueline Meihsner made a 6-month commitment to the Lord to serve the people of Kosovo.  In February of 2000 5 orphans showed up at her doorstep.  She believed she along with a number of other missionaries could provide short-term shelter for them until they could be placed in an orphanage.  The problem was there were no orphanages in Kosova until 2004.  The first six years of her service were spent mothering these 5 children and supporting the local church.

She continues to work with children and youth in Drenas and other unreached areas teaching English and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.  She also ministers under Jeta me Begati Fellowship in Gjakove where she shares God’s word and helps with children’s ministry.  She is a partner of Please Pass the Bread whose mission is to share the love of Christ by feeding hungry children.   Springtimes are most often spent preparing for VBS summer camps.

Ivan Rios
Pastor Ivan Rios planted a church in La Perla-a slum area long known as a retail drug bazaar in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He is also involved in several other ministries in San Juan including a feeding, clothing, and counseling program called “Puente De Amor” (Bridge of Love), a weekly Bible study, a homeless ministry called “Las Duchas” (the showers), a Saturday children’s program, and a weekly soup and prayer outreach within the community.

Pastor Ivan was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City where, as a young adult, he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He became a missionary in 1992 when he was led to Medellin, Colombia to teach the gospel. After several years in Colombia, Pastor Ivan returned to NYC where he continued working for Times Square Church. In 1998 Pastor Ivan, along with colleague Treg McCoy, opened the doors to East Harlem Fellowship-a coffee house outreach and church plant. After 12 years, Pastor Ivan felt God calling him back to Colombia where he spent almost a year before embarking on his current journey in La Perla, San Juan, Puerto Rico.

La Perla was one of the most notorious slums in Puerto Rico, however it is home to a small congregation, Iglesia La Perla, planted by Pastor Ivan Rios. He uses many forms of art work, english classes, one on one street evangelism and much more to reach the community. Pastor Ivan continues to serve the Lord and the community and frequently professes that he “just wants to please God.”
